Introducing Pinky!

My new laptop arrived today! I decided to be super creative and call her Pinky, since she is pink. And so far, she's wonderful. I was worried that I wouldn't like the feel of the keyboard and/or touchpad, but they're great. Yea yea yea! Now I can finally catch up on a billion and one different projects. The only sad thing was that I intended to get Pinky a LeSportSac sleeve, but she's too big. So the search for a cute sleeve begins. This photo isn't actually Pinky; I grabbed it off of Dell's website.

Awesomeness

So when I ordered the new laptop, I went nuts and also ordered a GPS and a new camera. The GPS arrived yesterday and it's great. But what's even greater is

Yes, my GPS will now talk to me as Mr. T. Mr. T., fools!

Cool T-Shirt Site

A friend of mine just launched a really cool t-shirt search engine site. You go there and search for a color or subject matter and it shows you tons of t-shirts from all different websites. Check it out at teenormous.com. And tell all your friends. And their friends, too.

Lazy? How about crazy?

Dear Internet,

Last night I decided that I'd had enough of tangled hair and started doing some research on hair donations. Never patient, I went to a recommended salon today and had 11 inches cut off. My head feels so much lighter. The ponytail is still drying, but once it's done I'll be sending it in to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program. They make wigs for women with hair loss due to cancer.

And here's how it looks now (I photoshopped away the dark circles under my eyes. Seriously, I look like a raccoon.):

Exciting cross-post from Transcraftinental!

Dear Internet,

D.C.'s local independent newspaper, City Paper, sponsors the annual Crafty Bastard craft fair, as well as a blog and classified ads. This week Novelty Kitten was chosen as Craftiest Bastard of the Week! Besides the blog mention, there will be a print ad in next weeks paper! It's like I'm famoose!

Introducing...

...Barry Hamilow!

Dear Internet,

Today we went to PetSmart and got an adorable long-haired Teddy Bear hamster. His name is Barry Hamilow. He will be performing six nights a week.

Sam made a sign to put on his cage:

So far, he's okay with us touching him. I can't wait to try holding him...maybe tomorrow night.

Happiness.

Love,
Shayne

Woohoo!

Dear Internet,

I made a sale today and not just a few pins or whatnot. Someone ordered my Robot Prom pillow. This is one of my more personal creations, so to sell it, to know that someone somewhere is displaying my work in their home, is a really big deal! W00t!

Off to scope out hamster stuff at the pet store.

Love,
Shayne

House guest

Look at who came to our door tonight...Sluggie! Notice where the slime trail is located. Sluggie was slugging *down* our house. Clever Sluggie.

I hope he's still there tomorrow.

I call him "Yammie"...

He's Yammie, the Candied Yam!

Randy took the camera with him to Albany, so these aren't the best pictures. The first was taken with the camera phone. In the second, I shoved Yammie in the scanner. He looks happier in the scanner. Anyway, more pictures coming soon. And I'll probably try another version in polar fleece. This one is in felt.

In related news, a few weeks ago I learned that I have about a one hour tolerance for crocheting with 100% wool yarn before I start getting itchy. Tonight I learned that working with wool/poly blend only gives me hairballs.

Speaking of learning things tonight...not only can I not make cookies well. I cannot manage cookie bars. I have a tupperware container full of chocolate chip glob. Tastes much better than it looks.

A Month of Softies: Vintage Catwalk

I've finished my first ever entry for Claire Robertson's A Month of Softies! January's theme is Vintage Catwalk.

I've gotta say, I'm proud of myself. This is my first softie attempt (aside from some silly childhood creations) and I hadn't intended on making her so elaborate. Oh, and Randy decided her name should be Purrscilla.

Altered Book Round Robin: Lost

Here is a better picture of my first spread in Heather's Lost book and my second spread, as well.

Bev's Redheads book is next...

"Maidens of the Sea" Chunky Book

Here are the front and back images for my contribution to Donna Cartagena's "Maidens of the Sea" Chunky Book swap. I cannot wait to see the finished project!

Oh, yeah, and I need to print off 45 high-quality copies and mount them to cardstock before mailing them off.

ATC Swaps

I've finished making my ATCs for Melissa Gelfand's "Bliss" deck swap and for Lisa South's "Flowerful" swap.

Now I've got to prepare 50-some copies of the bliss card and mail everything out.

Altered Book Round Robin

Here is my first spread in Heather's "Lost" book...

...still thinking about what to do for the second spread and running out of time...
(the book is large, so this picture is of two scans smooshed together; I guess I didn't line them up quite as well as I'd thought.)

Badbabyart Swaps

An ATC made for Pam's "Faces" swap and a page in Gwynn's "Violet" deco...

A Cozy for a Friend

I made this cozy to for a friend to hold, um, whatever she had that might fit into a cozy of this size. Crocheted with a nice sparkly and hot pink yarn, I'd be happy to create more of these. Sombrero optional. Email for details.
